THE CHINESE QUESTION— THE r - LABOR PHASE. END OF THE PRINTERS' '■ DIFFICULTY. A CLOSE MEETING. (united prffess association.) Received July 6, 12.40 p.m. . Sydney, July -6. Twenty-ono firemen and trimmers proceed by the s.s. Alameda to 'Frisco, at ' the expense of the maritime labor union, to replace the Chinese crew. - Advices received from 'Hongkong state that m consequence of .the loss to steamship owners arising from stoppage of the Chinese passenger traffic, freights will be raised by five shillings per ton. A further rise of five shillings is expected shortly. Melbourne, ' July 6. / The ftispute between the Printer's Society and the employers has been settled by the latter conceding to the demands of the Society. Sydney,. July 6. A meeting of Directors of the South - Pacific Petroleum Company was held last night, but the proceedings'^ were not allowed to transpire and particulars will not be available till next week.
