The betting on the Melbourne Cup is 3 to 1 against Algerian, 3 to 1 Silver Prince, 14 to 1 Trident, 16 to 1 Dunlop. For the Derby— 4 to 1 against Tranter, 5 to 1 The Australian Peer, 8 to 1 Niagara. Derby for all the money in the maiket at evens, and shade odds are now laid on his winning. Tranter is easier, and 5 to 1 is on oiler about him. A considerable amount of money has been invested on Australian Peer at 5 to 1. Pakeba was backed to win £2,000 at 100 to 5, after which he advanced to 100 to 6 for the Cup. Oakleigh has been backed for all the money in the market at 100 to 12. Algerian aDd Silver Prince 100 to 20 (taken). Trident has been backed for £ 1,000 at 100 to 7, and is now tiuoleil 100 to S. £1,000 was taken about Abercom's chance at 100 to 8. Dunlop has been supported to win £2,000 at 100 io o.
