Two gardeners hailing from the flowery land were to-day fined in a nominal sum for working in their gardens on Sunday, their excusa was that weeds were growing so fast that taey had to work to dear the ground. i Petitions to the Hoasa of Representatives, in favor of Bible-reading in schools, were placed for signature yesterday in the lobbies of several of the Wellington charohes. A man named Frederiok Jakerhora attempted suicide at Ekatahuna on Friday last by ontting his throat and both wrists with a r zor. His condition is not considered critical. Dcnedin, Oot 24. la bankruptcy to-day Mi Jostioa WiU Hams decided to suspend the order of disohsrge of H. B. Murray for threa months, as hehad in the first iaat&nca refused to promise not to leave town, and his presence was necessary to wind up the estate. ■
