Mr Gladstone is writing letters daily to tho newspapers, which are qnerulons, arrogant, and almost insulting m their tone. It is expected that tho Exhibit tion will be prolonged until December. Another meeting of the English Committee of the Jubilee Exhibition was held to day, the Duke of Manchester presiding. It was resolved to ask the Queen to appoint a Royal Commissioner to attend to the organisation of British art and industrial exhibits. The Duke of Manchester, wrote to the Prince of Wales, urging him to accept the presidency of tho Adelaide Commission, Sic Arthur Blythe, Sir Samuel Davenport, and Messrs Herbert Sandford and Deeriug have been appointed a committee to manage the details. , July 7. The European Press consider that Batoum ceasing to be a free port is a prelude to denouueo the Berlin Treaty, and is, a blow at England. The first Australian parcel post has been despatched, and some ceremony was made on the occasion by the postal authorities. The owners of the fishing smacks seized by the Canadian Government refuse to pay the fines for illegal fishing m Canadian waters, aud have appealed to the American Congress. H.M.S. Miranda, at present on tho Australian station, has been recalled, and will be dismantled. At the request of the Boers, Germany will protect Uppingtonia. A new coinage will be issued m; commemoration of tbo Queen's Jubilee year. ? ■ '. Sir- A. E. Havelock lias refused to accede to the Boers' demands m Znluland, and a deadlock lias ensued. ________
