THE VICTORIAN LEVEXUE.

Melbourne, July 5. It ib now definitely known that the Governor has refused the advice of the Ministry, that Parliament be dissolved.

The Victorian returns of revenue and expenditure show the revenue for the quarter, ended 30th June, as L 1,336,000, an increase of L 231,000 compared with the corresponding quarter of last year. The revenue for the year ended 30th Jnne is L 5,107,000,, 107,000, an increase of L 553.000 on 1879-80. The expenditure for the year amounts to 15,493,000, being an increase of L 260,000 on the year ended 30th June, 1880.

Sidney, July 5. Parliament was opened to-day. The Governor announced that the following measures would be brought m :— A Bill for the regulation of Chinese Immigration, Licensing and Municipal Bills.
