AWATERE ROAD BOARD.

The Awatere Road Board met on Wednesday. Present : Messrs P. Mcßae (Chairman), Stace, Mowatt, and J. B. Green. The minutes of the preceeding meeting were read and confirmed. Letters were received from — Mr H. Westmacott re money due him ; Mr A. McLauchlan re rates ; Mr T. H. Richmond re New Road ; Mr A. J. C. Ward re drughting plans ; Fuhrmann and Willis re rates ; Mr J. Sharp re exchange of road at Jasper Plat ; Mr A. P. Seymour re Awatere Reserve ; Mr Coleman re track from Grey to Glenlee. The following resolutions were passed : — That the Inspector visit the locality mentioned by Mr Richmond with a view to making a report on the road at the next meeting. That notice be sent to all persons m arrear of rates, that all rates not paid by the 25th of March will be sued for. That being a private Board the Board does not see its way to comply with Mr Coieman's request. That the question of the alternative line of road from the Long Valley to Castle Creek be referred to Mr Green, the impossibility of the shorter line be pointed out to him, and he be asked on; what terms he will permit the road to be taken by way of the old track. That Mr A. Ward and the Road Inspector interview Mr Clark re the advisability of retaing the present surveyed line near the shingle slip at Cow Creek. That Mr A. J. 0. Ward be requested to supply a detailed written description of the Reseive proposed to be taken for a public road, to calculate the amount of the earthwork, and to prepare cross sections of the road. That specifications and estimates be prepared by the Pond Inspector for each half mile of road through the Reserve, 14 feet on the solid ; and Mr A. Ward be instructed to prepare working plans, and, if possible, to complete the same by next meeting. The following accounts were passed for payment :— G. Robinson, 10s 6d ; J. Tait, £4 10s; J. Dempsey, £11 £s ; C. J. W. Griffiths, £13 17 10s ; E, Maddock, £25 ; T. Neville, £16 ; E. Maddock, (time sheet), £()T) 17s Id ; H. Ellis, £]<> 6s 3d ; and T. Maddock, £80. The Hoard then adjourned.
