HOME MARKETS.

The following is an extract from N. Edwards and Co's London Circular for San Francisco mail of 19th Oct., 1876 :—

Wool. — A more, cheerful tone has prevailed m this market during the past month ; the reports from the manufacturing centres are more satisfactory, and ib is evident stocks m consumers' hands are comparatively small. There has been an active demand for Wool f, ora France, and a good mauy enquiries from Yorkshire ;■ sales are effected at prices fully equal to the highest of those of last sales.

The next Public Sales commence on 31st insfc.', and with the quantity hold over from the last series, the totnl for disposal will be about 200.000 bales. It is generally believed the closing rates of last sales will be fully maintained ; unless indeed political movements m Europe exert a damaging influence.

Price current of New Zealand Wool—

Washe \ Fleece, superior Is 6^-d to 23 2d, medium la 3kl to Is 6d ; inferior and faulty Is to la 3d per Ib. Scoured : Superior Is 7d to 2s 2d, medium Is ljd to Is s£d, inferior and fault}' 8d to la Id per Ib. Greasy. Fleece : Superior lOil to Is 3d, medium 7id to 9£d, inferior and faulty scl to 7d per IK ,

JYeu; faaland Hemp. — In consequence oc the rise m Manilla Hemp there has been a better enquiry for tin's sort, and prices have slightly advanced, but tho. trale shows no desire to buy for stock. Stock, Ist instant, 872 tons against 1423 last year.

Quotations.— Common . ... £16' per ton. Fair 20=, „ Good 22 „ Fine .... ... 26 „ Tallow. — This market continues steady and prices are well maintained. The telegram from Australia states that llOOcasks had been shipped thence for the month ending October 10th, whi«h is a very moderate supply, and with the pres-nt small Bupply of " home " tal'ow, is likely t> strengthen prices.
