DUNEDIN, April 17. At a meeting of the Society for the Prevention of -Cruelty to Animals a letter was received from Mr .1. Miller, veterinary surgeon, describing' a case of alleged cruelly at Piverton races 'by fixing straps tightly round the tongues of two horses. * .It* was decided to refer the matter to the Southland Society with an expression of opinion that the treatment described was very cruel.
