After the business of the Maiaura Borough Council was transacted 'last night the Mayor (Mr F. W. Brovn) entertained the councillors and staff to supper., v In proposing the Mayor's health Council tor' West said the Council's term of office had . been a> very peaceful one from the time the Mayor took office. They had had an uphill fight as when the Council took office their backyard was . filled with pipes which had to be disposed of, and with the assistance of the town clerk they managed to sell the pipes with as little loss as possible. The Mayor deserved great credit for the manner in which lie had filled the office, and during his term there had been no hitch- in the proceedings-' and there had been no wastage finance. The Mayor, in reply, heartily thanked Councillor West for his remarks. It was gratifying to the speaker to know his work had met with approval and he had maintained the good will of the councillors. During his term he had always done what he considered best. He always made it a practice, of 'getting requests in writing and the decision rested with the Council.
