SAVING THE INDRABARAH. Received September 16, 9.30 a.m. SYDNEY, Sept. 26. Admiral Sir George King-Hall visited the Indrabarah and complimented the caiptain and officers on their splendid seamanship in saving the vessel which iiad a narrow escape of being wrecked on the New Zealand coast.

THE " KANGAROO" STAMP. Received September 26, 9.30 a.m. MELBOURNE, Sept. 26. Hon. Agar Wynne (Postmaster-Gen-eral) announced that the "kangaroo" stamip would be continued temporarily along with the new design owing to a sufficient number of the latter not being available.

In July last the new Postmaster-Gen-eral decided to abolish the kangaroo stamp which was adopted by the Fisher Government. Mr Wynne considers that the stamp is ridiculous, and has made Australia the laughing-stock of the civilised world. He is replacing the stamp with a design which will show the bust of the King, with a" kangaroo on one side, an emu on the other, and the Australian coat-of-aams.

Lord Emmott (Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies and head of the British Parliamentary Party), in the course of a farewell interview said one of the things, that struck him most was the interest felt by all classes in the problems of the Pacific and also the high level of prosperity of the workers. It was sincerely to be hoped that the standard whereto Australians were accustomed would stand the test of bad times. He was impressed with the size of the Australian cities, whose great growth suggested a danger of slum' conditions arising.
