Owing to the state of the weather and grounds yesterday, cricket matches were postponed. ENGLAND v. TASMANIA. HOBART, Jan. 27. The Englishmen gave a brilliant display of cricket against a Tasmanim team, Woolley in particular batting splendidly. He compiled 305 (not out) in 229 minutes, his score including two sixes and forty-three fours, and 1 he gave only two chances. The Woolley-Rhodes and the Woolley-Hearne partnerships added 203 and 254 runs respectively. The Welington Provincial Lawn Tennis Association's tournament concluded yesterday. There was a large attendance. The final of the combined championship doubles was not played, and may not be finished at all. The men's championship singles final between J. C. Peacock and R. Swanston was a strenuout game, Peacock winning. The ladies' handicap doubles was won by Misses Van Staveren and Davis, against Misses Williams and Bat-ham.
