Several armed bandits raided a ricli native contractor's house near Cairo, assaulted the occupiers, and stole much money and jewellery. They fired on the mounted police, who replied till their ammunition was exhausted. The brigands escaped and the police pursued them, capturing three. The contractor is dead and six other inmates of the house are itt a precarious condition.
