Sir Sassoon David, donor of the statue of King George which was unveiled yesterday, has placed £53,328 at the Government's disposal to promote the welfare of agriculturists in commemoration of the Royal visit. Sir Sassoon David is head and founder of tho firm of Sassoon J. David and Co., is a prominent member of the Jewish community, and was one of the first Jews to settle at Bombay. The firm has branches in China and Japan. Sir David was knighted in l!)0o.
