"INVISIBLE BANDITS."
STRANGE OUTRAGES. The neighborhood of La Roquette-sur-Siagne, near Cannes, has 'again been thrown into a panic: by an attempt to murder a farmer and his wife by the "invisible bandits of Pergomas." I A year ago a band of murderers who woi-'j known, .by this name ravaged the district, attacking villas and farm-! ho;i.ies. The bandits were nicknamed "invisible" as no one had ever seen them. The other night Mrae. Roussey-Dalon, the wife of a wealthy fanner, \.hilc striding at tlio window of her father's villa, was shot by an unknown person, expiring almost immediately. The only elm' was a piece of wadding discovered on the window-sill. An attack was made on a farm at night at Mouans-Sartoux, a.village close to La Roquette-sur-Siagne. While a farmer and his wife were going to bed a hail of stones rained on the shutters of the windows. About two hours later, when the couple were in bed, a. gun was pushed through ati air hole in the shutters and three shots discharged into the room. One bullet lodged in the head of the bed, and on examination it was found to be similar to that which caused the death of Mrae. Roussey-Dalon. Detectives are scouring the countryside in search of the bandits.
