HOPED TO INSURE THE KING.
Mr Benjamin Short, one of the directors of the A.M.P. Society, who on March 25 went on a holiday trip to the Old Country, is back again in Sydney. It is common knowledge that Mr Short wished to induce a member of the Royal Family to take out a policy in the Australian office, and while it was stated that he wished to insure the life of the King for £50,000, Mr Short himself confesses to having expected to in-i sure the Prince of Wales. His arrival in London during the Coronation festivities interfered with his plans in that direction, however, and he returned without having brought this distinction to the Commonwealth. "I dropped the idea of approaching the King," he told a reporter of the 'Drily Telegraph,' "although I might have succeeded with him."
