A unique case was hoard last week at Ngaruawahia-—it is stated to be the first of its kind in the Auckland province. Mr Tuypens, a settler at Woodleigh, objected to his property being included in the special rating area of the Raglan Council. Steps were taken to raise a loan of £I3OO, for which a Government subsidy of £ for £ was promised, to form and metal a certain road, which gave Tuypens his only outlet at the present time. He contended that if the Government opened up the West Coast tion to any extent but admitted that this was new the only road to tlie section. The magistrate held that Tuypens' objection failed, and duly signed the rating bill, including the obejetor's section in the rating area.
