WELSH MINERS' STRIKE.

TROUBLE STILL SIMMERING. BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH.—COPYRIGHT. PER UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION. Received January 26, 10.50 a.m. LONDON, Jan. 25. The National Conference of Miners has resolved that the Miners' Federation shall contribute £3OO weekly to the Cambrian miners. Spasmodic violent attacks are occurring at Llanelly, including the rough handling of officials and the stoning of residences. The county of Glamorgan is face to face with a heavy liability consequent upon the recent colliery strike riots. At a meeting of the Finance Committee of the County Council at Cardiff the chairman (Alderman T. J. Hughes) said that the standing police committee had already appointed a sub-committee to enter fully into the claims made for extra police, and it was recommended that a sum of £20,000 be placed at the disposal of that committee.—("Oil, oh!") Alderman Morgan Williams asked if the imported police were not going to be sent away. The enormous expense ought to be brought to an end as soon as possible. The chairman said that a great many claims had been received under the Riot Damages Act. They !, would have to deal with the claims in great detail, with the a.ssitanco of the county accountant, and with power to ask the clerk to convene a finance subcommittee which would be em powered to pay all claims they considered urgent.
