Sir George Reid (High Commissioner for Australia), speaking at a banquet held by Americans in London in honor of Independence Day, said that if England became a Republic the people would unanimously elect King George President. There were three great Powers (he continued), Great Britain, the United States and Australia, which meant a great deal in the future. Each had all the territory it needed.
