PEB UNITED TOKSS ASSOCIATION AUCKLAND, Feb. 2a. Bishop Lenihan, who has just, relurn"d from a 12 months' tour of the world, was presented last night with various addresses and a cheque for t'3l2, the gilts of tlie, priests and people, tile latter including many members of other denominations. _ The Bishop, in reply, noted with satisfaction that during his absence the people had made a step forward in the direction of promoting his cherished idea—namely, the raising of sufficient money to be enabled to make all Catholic schools free to the childreu. He would have great pleasure in donating part it not all of the cheque they had that night given him as the nucleus towards the creation of a fund for the free education of the children.
