CORRESPONDENCE.
NEW TBAIN SERVICE. To the Editor. Sir,—l regTet to have to bring under your notice the very unsatisfactory manner in which the Gore booking and parcels office is worked at prosent. From what I and several others who have spoken to me about it can see, the staS is not sufficient to rope with the work and give the public the attention that should be given in such offices. Very frequently of iate 1 have noticed the two clerks in the above offices have been on duty for hours that would shame the hardest of taskmasters. This sort of thing is not at all satisfactory for the public doing business with the Department. If ours is what they term a Liberal Government, I would very much like to know in what respect it is liberal. 1 may state that goods are arriving for me by early ami late trains so that I have every opportunity of observing what I have stated. It is to be hoped the. Department will make some alteration at once so that the public will get the attention they are entitled to.—l am, etc., Merchant.
