TO THE EDITOR. Sot,—Now that we have an Eastern District Association 1 think it is high time that the Executive considered the matter of tbe appointment of umpires. Yesterday's match was a perfect faice, so far as one of the umpires was concerned. I don't ssy (or a moment that the umpire was in any way prejudiced, but he certainly could not have known the rules governing the game of cricket in giving three of the Gore men out 1.b.w., viz., Ussher, Campbell, and Bradmore. lam not going into details. Several Wyndham people present during the match were as much surprised at the decisions of the umpire as were the Gore men. I understand from a prominent Mataura cricketer that the local club there have the same complaints to make, and I trust that efficient umpires will in future be available for these matches. I would rather pay the expenses and fee for a good man than have a repetition of yesterday's performance. Walter Gee, Captain G.C.C.
