The defendant was fined for the offence, and as the prosecutrix owed him money, she uudertook to pay the fine. About 12 prisoners in New Zealand, it is said, will be made the object of the Boyal clemency on June 24. Victoria Wing Fund (Southland Hospital) now stands at £1549 9s lid. The net profit accruing to the Gore A. and P. Association from the late Winter Show will be about £50.
