WAIKOIKOI.
The Waikoikoi Crickot Club held their annual concert on Friday, SOtb October. The attendance exceeded the expectations of the oofiimittee, and by 8 o'clock the large hall was full, late comers not finding a seat. Mr W. W. Mackay made an efficient chairman. Mr A. M. Simmers, the energetic secretary, had everything arranged in a most excellent manner, the ladies providing eatables in abundance. Mrs Murdoch and Mrs Lavander kept the pot boiling, and I must say that they had a rough time of it standing out in the open paddock, the- rain putting the fire out, and the wind blowing " old Harry," while those inside were enjoying their splendid brew. It is time the Hall Committee were putting up a building and chimney for such purposes. The concert was a great success. Those contributing to the programme were the following : — Songs : Misses E. Simmers, Bowling, and Beid ; Messrs Murdoch, Clark, and Christie. Duet : Messrs Mackay and Murdoch. Eecitations : Miss Bowling ; Messrs P. Eadie and Hannah. Headings : Messrs J. Eskdale and A. Sommerville. A quartette and a glee were contributed by the company, the whole programme proving to be one of unusual merit. The accompaniments were played by Misses McNee, Bowling, and Ready. The dance which followed was a great success. Songs and recitations* were given at intervals, the fun being kept up till 5 a.m. Messrs Simmers, Blair and others supplied the music, and Mr Fred Harvey made an efficient M.C. ; the ladies, as usual, supplying refreshments. • It has been snowing, raining and blowing, turn about, for the last three weeks. Young lambs and all stock are suffering severely. All horse work is at a standstill, and crops are water-logged and stationary. All things come to those who wait, and no doubt we will get fine weather by-and-bye. I !■— !■ !!■■■■ ■■Hill H ■>■!■■ I
