Shooting Match.

A rifle m-tjh between teams representing Mataura and Wyndham Rifle Clubs was fired on the range of the latter on Wednesday afternoon. The weather conditions were unfavorable, a fresh " 8 o'olock " wind afterward changing to " 4 o'olock," very cold, and accompanied by a heavy downpour of rain, made matters very uncomfortable. It was decided to fira 7 shots at 600 yds first, and the light on finishing that range being very bad, only fire ehota each were fired at 200 yds. The Mataura Club bad eight men and Wyndham seven, and averaging for one man short, Wyndham won by 58 pom's, Mr Fr»ser, of Wyndham Club, came near registering the possible at 500 yds, having planked on six successive bnlli, and when in the act of despatching tho last shot, a large rain drop landed right on the back sight, completely obliterating tbe windage line, and before matters could be righted the wind had completely obaaged, a centre, one inch to right of bull's eye being the result* Soores :— , MATAUBA. 500 200 yds. , yds.
