Anarchists at Work.

[By Cable], Paeis, April 30. The jurors who tried the Anarchists on emerging from the courthou*e were met with cries of ".Cowards." Eavachol and Simon appeared quite unconcerned on sentence being passed, and they received it with eripfl of " Vive VAnarchie !" Eavachol's counsel, amid loud shouts of disapproval from those in court, concluded his argument in defence by; warning the jury that if his client were sentenced to death, new attempts would be made upon themselves. He strenuously urged that the offence was only a political oue. The inadequacy of the sentence—imprisonment for life—created great surprise. There is an impression abroad that the. Government will be overthrown owing to their neglect in taking precautions to protect Very's restaurant, which had been threatened. One solitary policeman bad been told off to watch the building.

The Anarchists have threatened to kill M. Beaurepaire, who conducted the case for the prosecution during Eavachol's trial, and M. Sberot, the waiter. Special protection is being afforded to M. They consider the verdict has partially justified Anarchism.

Seilmann, an Anarchist, has Written to the Pope that it was selected by lot who should desfroy M. Very's restaurant. He alleges that he and his confederates were drinking coffee in the front bar of the restaurant when he pushed with his foot a packet of dynamite into the desired position. They then lit a fuse with a cigar and left the building, but returned to watch the effect of their handiwork.

Upwards of 3000 dynamite cartridges, whioh it is believed were intended for the Paris Anarchists, have been intercepted in Belgium. A dynamite bomb has been discovered among the coal in an engine tender on one ot the local railway lines. President Carnot has visited those injured in M. Very's restaurant. He gave IOOOfr to the Very family, and 500fr to the mothers of the others who w°re injured. Eavaohol is being tried for the murder pf a hermit, to which he has confessed, and ip the event of his acquittal he will probably be sent to Noumea. Threats of further outrage? in Paris are being renewed, and thore have been numerous arrests here and elsewhere. The Government propose to compensate the sufferers by the dynamite explosion. M. Loubet declares that prior to the explosion at M. Very's restaurant in Paris, the latter was warned of the impending outrage. At. the residences of the judges who heard the charges against the Anarchists, the guard has been increased. He also says that although the police have been doubled, they were quite helpless, against such suddenness as attended the outrage. Even the Government were powerless, as everything had ! been done with incomprehensible coolness. The only resource was to make further arrets, Many residents in Paris are asking for police protection. The German press ridicillo the verdict Q ( Jhe French jurors, and assert that the country ?s going down hill, Three hundred Anarchists have beeu arrested in Northern Italy. The Italian Government have dissolved 22 Anarchist workmen's societies in various parts of the country. Paris is virtually in a 6tate of siege, and shops will universally be closed on May Day. A great force of cavalry and infantry have been supplied with ball cartridge, and are quartered in barracks, and at the police stations squads of police are stationed throughout the city. No crowds are to be allowed to collect. Madeid, April 30. Workmen throughout the country propose to celebrate May Pay in a peaceful manner. The authorities have, however, taken great military precautions. Eohe, April 30. Anarchists are showing increased activity throughout Italy.
