MEETING OF CREDITORS

IN THE ESTATE OF WILLIAM ANNE A R. Iho first meeting of creditors in ’ho sstato of William Anneal', of Picton, miner, was held in the Courthouse, Blenheim, on Saturday morning. The Deputy Oflicial Assignee (Mr R. D, Nosworthy) presided. Not a single creditor put in an appearance. The estimated value of the security is LI 75. The Chairman decided to hear debtor’s statoinont, wh ok the latter, on oath, made to the fol'ow'ng effect: —That ho had been able to pay his way up to five yoars ago, when work became veiy precarious, and he had sickness in Ids fanrly. 110 w’fo died, and that cost him a good doal of money. He had married about two yoars ago ; since then he had paid off back dobts and never could kocp clear of present ones. On m:uvying his second wife ho took over her debts. She was in debt, and told him so. He did not much consider it at the time. He had not yet paid off all his wife’s debts. Ou account of their being no creditors present, the mooting was adjourned P'[ to-day.
