SEVERAL LIVES LOST.

Auckland, July 21. The dispute which has oxisted for some time past between two sections of the Ngapuhi tribeat Whangarei respecting a block of land near the Pioti culminated this morning in actual fighting. Mr Andrew Wilson was about to commence the survey, and he sent a party to put up the flag on the hill, in order to test the threat which had been mado bv the natives. His flag was quickly pulled down and a battle commenced. The latest news received stutes that sever'd natives have been killed and others wounded. Mr Clendon, R.M., and two constables have gone out to the scene of the trouble. There are about 70 natives on one side and 12 on the other. The particulars to hand are very mcagro.
