The captain of the ship Frank Stafford, which arrived to-day from New York, reports having passed the W L White, a schooner bound from New York to Mexico. The latter vessel was dismasted and from an examination made it was found that she was timber laden, and having suffered severely in a gale, had been abandoned by the crew early in March. There was no sign of the crow Pout Darwin, July 16.

Further tests made in the cable give the break as being 800 miles from this end, which is a less distance than when the cable steamer Recorder spoke last Friday. It is believed that the cable is broken between the point where the ship spoke from here. In view of a possible further delay, cables will be forwarded by steamers Chingtu and Tamadice. It is thought that possibly a steamer from Banjoewangi will arrive on Wednesday with cables bearing date of London, July 12. Adelaide, July 16.

The football match to-day between Norwood and the English team was won by the former by live goals to three.
