(Per Press Association.) Auckland, May 3. A shocking accident occurred at Hamilton yesterday evening on Captain Steele’s estate at the house of a settler named Bedford. The elder members of tho family were engaged in the fields some distance away, and one of tho children, who were left in tho house, a little girl 5 years of age, approached too near tho fire, with the result that in a moment she was enveloped in flames. The alarm was given, but tho flames were not extinguished until tho clothes of the poor child had boon litorally burned from her body. Tho little girl’s injuries wero so severe that she died this morning.
