Grand Lodge Session.

(Per Press Association.) Wellington, Jan 20. At the Grand Lodge session to-day tho Grand Lodge Degree was conferred on Bro. Loinmas. It was decided to hold the next conference in Christchurch. It was resolved : Whereas the two Grand Lodges hitherto existing in this Colony under two charters, one being for the Grand Lodge North and South respectively, the two Grand Lodges having now united, we request the R.W.G. to issue a charter to this Grand Lodgo, such charter to bear date o.f first charter issued. Tho following resolution was considered :—That this Grand Lodge is of opinion that the liquor traffic as carried on by clubs has a most injurious effect on the moral and social well-being of tho community, and hereby instruct the Grand Lodge Executive in connection with other temperance bodies to take such action as they may deem necessary to obtain fresh legislation so as to bring clubs under same supervision aud control as licensee}, houses. A JepMktion was appointed to waif upon the Colonial Secretary to ppojesj; against the re-establisbment of distilleries in the Colony. The Executive were instructed to pre-r pare and circulate petitions to in favop of prohibition. The conference decided that tho time for instituting district lodges was premature, although they admitted such lodges would prove a great advantage, and requested the Executive to report on tho question next Grand Lodge session.
