Per Press Association. Wellington, Jan 19. By order in Council, tho close season for seals is extended until Juno Ist. At the Magistrate’s Court this afternoon tho brothers Jatnes and Richard White, on a charge of stealing the yacht Dido, which they took to Lyttelton, where they were captured, were committed for trial. Bail was allowed, £IOO each, and two sureties of £SO each. The Gazette notifies the appointment of Mr F. C. Litchfield as a member of tho Blenheim East, Blenheim North and Blenheim West Licensing Committees. Christchurch, Jan 19. A shock of earthquake occurred at 1.17 aim. to-day. It was so slight that very few persons felt it, but was rather more severe at Kaiapoi. Wanganui, Jan 19. Tho bowling match between Now Plymouth and Wanganui clubs resulted in a win for New Plymouth by one point. Dunedin, Jan 19. The boy Gordon, who figured in tho Court yesterday as the victim of an assault by his adopted father, was brought up to-day as having no lawful means of support and committed to the Industrial .School. The adopted parent refused to have anything to do with the boy, whom he brought from Londonderry, Ireland.
