The fo!'owing are the nominations for the Wanganui Cup, If ru :l es : Tongarwo, Strenuous, Ruapehu, St C!a ; ”, Mokoia, Sweetie, Figurehead, Wanda, Petroleum, Ba’Ha, Falconet, Lady Florin, Wapiti, A "tnicry, Victoria, Cannon, Tho Shah, AdirVstrator, Loohiel, Beresford, Gipsy K’ng, Flintlock, Tetford, Lady Norali, Lam el, Sei pen tine, Dauphino, Crutchfield, S'cncc, Lcorina, Pearl, Rivulet, Waitiil, Rr nor, Escapade, and Dudu. Mr D. O’Bilon’s horses Gipsy King and Sextant have been purchased by Mr G. G. Stead, of CMstchurch, and will run in the yellow and black, their new owner s colors, at the for dicoming Auckland meeting. A trotting match in harness between Mr Stock’s marc Nelly and Mr Proffitt’s horse Jack, for a stake of L 25 a-side, came off near Hastings on Wednesday afternoon. The distance (says tho Hastings Star) was three miles, along the Mereakakaho road, fi” ; sbtog up at the Stortford Lodge Hotel. Mr Proffitt, who drove his own horse, scored a win by 1G seconds. Mr Adam Mundrell drove Nelly. Gipsy K ; ng has been lately worked at Biccartonthe reverse way of the course, which, iu the face of Ids being engaged in the leading events of the Australian Jookey Club’s and Sydney Tattersall’a Club meetings, makes the louts th’ok that bis destination for Christmas and Now Year time .. I (Sir J ’uucelut) would caution my readers that he may yet be entered for the weight-for-age races at Auckland, which place would bo more handy to Sydney in the event of his owner deoid’ng to send him thero, and even should he take part in our own Tattersafi’s Club Cup he would yet have t : me to land in Auckland before the A.R.C.’s meet' ig commenced. Mr A. Mr Drake has sold Vinaig.otte to Mr Su'.man, late of Invorcargi’ 1 , but who now keeps an hotel in Melbou ac. Tho rest of bis string have been transferred to Mr 11. Oxenham and they are now trained at Randwiek by Mark Thompson.
