A DISSATISFIED OLD GROWL.

TO TnE editor Sir, —Just a few lines iq answer to “ Old Qrovyl ” :—-He say’s lie is “ on the warpath,” if he hadsaid “ on the wh'uo ” he wou’d have been much nearer the mark for such a snive'Ung whiffing letter I never before read. He asks if I have ever been on tho scratch, to which I can answer in the afthnative, and probably’ have run in as many races as “ Old Growl” or his champion either. I wonder if either of them have ever seen a 100 yards race run outside of Blenheim, because all over the Colony at any good handicap 100 yards’ race will be seen men who receive ten and twelve yards and y’ct the scratch men do not snivel, they start good temporally, win if t.’iey can, but if they don’t they pull themselves together for the next race and make those in front travel. Does “Old Growl ” remember Heinpton when lie paid a flying visit to Blonheim ? If my memo-/ selves me lightly’ that athlete conceded considerably more than 12 yards and then won. Where ever there are sports held there is su-c to bo at least one man far superior to the rest, and I would ask “Old Growl” in al’ fairness are the remainder to suffer because one or two men have been g : fted with greater speed. Apologis-'ug for tal ’ng up so much space. —I am, etc., One of the Cor mix tors. Blenheim, Nov. 14, 1887
