TO CORRESPONDENTS.

Anti-Clique. —Your letter on the action of the Education Board is couched in such strong language that, with thepresent law of libel before us, we cannot publish it. At the same time we agree in the main with your views. Whilst the Board had grounds for taking immediate action in one direction, we think Captain Baillle’s contention that the Inspector should be heard before disposing of the matter was just and reasonable. There is no danger of the whole matter being shelved. Public interest his been so painfully awakened that the Board cannot decently allow the Committee’s report to be burked, and it must be fully considered at t)je Board’s next meeting. We trust also that, notwithstanding the Chairman’s suggestion yesterday to take the subjeot in committee, it will be openly discussed .
