WOMEN’S INSTITUTES
WALTON MEETING The annual meeting of the Walton Women's Institute was held in the Walton Hall. In the absence of the president, the vice-president, Mrs. D. Mapp, presided. The attendance was good. The secretary, Mrs. C. W. McNaul, read the report, which was a most interesting review of the year’s activities. The treasurer, Mrs. W. E. Franklin, presented the balance-sheet. This Showed the finances to be in a most satisfactory condition. This reflected great credit on the committee and members for their work during the year. The points prize for the competitions for the year was won by Mrs. A. E. Paton, with Miss Peggy Paterson only one point behind. The competition for the Victorian posy was won by Miss Paterson, with Mrs. Paton second and third. Mrs. Rix presented posies to Mrs. D. Mapp, and the secretary and treasurer, and congratulated them on their splendid work during the year. The election of officers resulted as follows: President, Mrs. D, Mapp; secretary, Mrs. C. W. McNaul; treasurer, Mrs. W. E! Franklin; committee, Mesdames Fawcett, Barlow, Rix, iPaterson, Todd, Paton, J. Scott, Mudford and Philpott. Afternoon tea was served by members of the committee.
