OBITUARY
MRS. MARGARET WILLIAMSON The death occurred recently of an old and respected resident of Okauia in the person of Mrs. Margaret Williamson, wife of Mr. si Robert Wililiamson, of Matamata. Deceased was the first white woman to settle at Okauia, and was very well known, in that district among its pioneers. Mrs. Williamson was born in Bantry, Ireland, and was the fourth daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. J O'Shea, of that town. She came to New Zealand in 1890 and settled at Christchurch. Later she moved to Danneyirke, where she married ill 1893. In 1899 Mr. and Mrs. Williamson took up a block of laft'd at Okauia, which they farmed for 23 years. On selling this property they went to Rotorua and farmed in that j district for 11 years. Six years ago they retired to Matamata. Shortly t afterwards Mrs. Williamson had a fall which resulted in a broken hip. Since then she had been confined to bed in the Waikato Hospital, in which institution she died. In addition to her husband deceased is survived by four daughters, Mrs R. J. Mateer and Mrs. T. McDonnell, of Matamata, Mrs. J. Holmes, of Auckland, and Mrs. J. Wilson, who is in Australia, and two sons, Mr. S. Williamson,, of Taupo, and Mr. Con. Williamson of Rotorua. There are 14 grandchildren.
