LICENSE CANCELLED
MOTORIST FROM TIRAU As a sequel to an accident on 'the Mamaku hill road Percy John McTaggart, of Tirau, was charged with being intoxicated while in charge of a car, before Mr. S. L. Paterson, S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court at Rotorua.
The case was brought by the police as the result of an accident between Mamaku and Tirau on Labour Day, when accused’s car struck a bank and capsized. The magistrate said that, in view of the fact that accused and his wife were injured and had to meet heavy hospital expenses, McTaggart would be convicted and ordered to pay the costs of the prosecution, without being fined, but in view of this leniency his driving license would be cancelled for a longer period than otherwise would be the case. The license was cancelled until May 31, 1939.
