DISTRICT’S OLDEST SCHOOL
LICHFIELD JUBILEE TO-MORROW Jubilee celebrations markings, the. fiftieth year of the administration, of the Lichfield school by the Department of Education will be held in the school grounds to-morrow. Actually;* 53 years old, the school was founded' by the now defunct Thames Valley Land Company in 1883, but was taken over by the State three years later. It is thus the oldest school in the district. What is probably unique in the records of similar jubiiee functions throughout the Dominion is the fact that the original teacher, Miss I. F. R. Kells, will be prebent. Miss Kells is a well-known resident of Lichfield, and returned from Auckland . early this week especially for the function.
The celebration will take the form of a reunion and garden party, while sporting events have been arranged.
