SHORTAGE OF FARM LABOUR
DIFFICULTIES EXAGGERATED
Labour M.P.’s Views The difficulties of the farm labour problem were being exaggerated for propaganda purposes, stated Mr. J. G. Barclay, M.P., in Matamata. A farmer milking 1.00 cows would receive over £I2OO, plus £IOO for calves Und pigs, he explained. A sharemilker would receive £450 of this sum. Two men and a boy could easily handle 100 cows, so there was at least £3 a week for three men in [ the job.
