SHORTAGE OF FARM LABOUR
MINISTER IN MATAMATA Call to Farmers The Minister of Labour,;,the Hon. H. T. Armstrong, and the Minister of Agriculture, the Hon. W. Lee Martin, will arrive in Frankton at 11 a.m. on Saturday next, and wish to spend the day in getting into personal -touch with farmers who have experienced difficulty in securing farm labour. The Ministers are determined to deal with the shortage of labour on farms and are anxious to gain first-hand information as to the difficulties which must be over-, come. Farmers who are prepared to meet the Ministers at Matamata on Saturday afternoon next, and explain to them personally their difficulties, kindly notify as urgently as possible either Messrs. F. C. Bush (president of the- Matamata Farmers’ Union), D. B. Higgins, or, the Matamata Record office. Unless farmers come forward with the necessary information, it would be useless bringing the Ministers into the Matamata district. The position is that tentative arrangements have been made by Messrs. S. N. Ziman and D. B. Higgins to bring the Ministers into the district, provided farmers come forward as stated.
