MATAMATA RUGBY UNION pt' o ' . - Management Committee The weekly meeting of the management committee of the Matamata Rugby Union was attended on Tuesv day by Messrs. J. E. Cummings (chairman), E. W. Jordan, W. ,E. ' ‘Clover, H. D. Ensor, J. H. Hawes, P. Cotter, D. Morrow and C. E. JBarry (secretary). Clearance to ATapuni The Arapuni-Waotu Club wrote asking for a clearance for J. -Elliott (Wardville). —Granted. Wardvilie Request The Wardville Club wrote advising that they were not notified of the draw on the first Saturday, and ' did not know the game was on until • the Record arrived. It wais then impossible to get a team together. ( In i- the circumstances the club asked that instead of thpir opponents being awarded the match on account of the default, that the game be ■; played later. . , On the motion of Mr. Hawes the request was granted.
Pleyer Regraded , The Waharoa Club asked for the 7 regrading of R. A. Trough ton .from * senior to junior status. v On the motion of Messrs. Ensor •and Cotter* the request was ap- ' jproved.
Third Grade Limit
'The Walton Club wrote asking ‘ that R. Adams be regraded from junior to third grade. On the motion of Messrs. Hawes and Barker it was decided to accede to the request provided the player’s weight .and age conformed to the /. rules. Cup Challenges The Taupiriv Rugby Union wrote forwarding challenges for the Peace, 'Cucksey and Boyce cups. The chairman pointed out that Morrinsville held the Cucksey Cup. It .was decided to advise Taupiri of this fact and to accept the other two , .games. ■ ; ■ s ' k ■-* • The Finlay Cup ; fBn 7 the motion of Messrs. Ensor amd\ Cotter it was decided that a . challenge be entered for the Finlay Cup.
] • City Teams A Suggestion wag made that thd secretary write to the University Club asking it to again visit Matajj|| mata. /. 'Mr. Cummings suggested that such games were so good that two teams might be invited. He, sugr 'Sgested University, Ponsonby and •|Crammar. \ ../.••/7 « On the motion of Messrs. Hawes And Ensor it was decided to write •to the three clubs asking if they were available to visit Matamata.
r /Wrong Colours It was decided to write to the Wairere, Raungaiti, Waharoa and Old Boys’ clubs advising them that they would be fined 5s if players turned out in wrong colours. 1 This followed the reading of comments I on the referees’ reports.
