OBITUARY
MR. A. B. GIBSON The death occurred at Devonport on December 16 of Archibald Bain (“Scotty”) Gibson, late of Turanga-o-moana. Deceased, who was born in Scotland, had been resident in New Zealand for many years, and for 15 or 16 years lived at Turanga-o-moana, where he had a carriers’ business and where Mrs. Gibson was also very well known, as she ran the local mail contract for about twelve years. “ Scotty,” as the late Mr. Gibson was generally known, was a familiar figure in the Matamata district and iwas of a happy and genial disposition. He was one of the founders of the Matamata Caledonian Society and served on the committee from the commencement till about two years ago, when he had to resign on account of ill-health. As a singer of Scotch songs he was always in demand at social functions of the society, for which he was a ready worker. Deceased, who was the eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. S. Gibson, of Avondale, is survived by a widow and one son .
