Although the task proved far more arduous than anticipated, it nevertheless provided a great.: amount of pleasure and satisfaction, in as much as the originality and general merits of the entries constituted outstanding features of the contest. The element of humour added delightful touches, whilst tributes of general appreciation, not only of the advertisements, but also of Waitemata Ale, came from wholly unexpected quarters, from city and village in almost every district of the Dominion—from clergymen, doctors and lawyers from farmhands, barmen and stokers, with the result that the judges have found it necessary to ask for an extension of time in which to make their decision. > .
