FIRE AT KIWITAHI
STORE BURNED DOWN Early Morning Blaze The general store at Kiwitahi Railway, near Morrinsville, occupied by A. M. Hardy and Co., was destroyed by lire which broke out at about 3 o’clock on Monday morning. The building was owned by Mrs. D. Reid. . Mrs. Reid and family, who reside about 200 yards away, were awakened by a neighbour, Mr. E. Wilhelm, who had seen the fire from his house, which is about a quarter of a mile from the store. The building was blazing fiercely by this time, and those on the scene had to confine their efforts to preventing the spread of the fire to a detached shed and the benzine bowser. The store was erected in 1923 and serves the Kereone soldier settlement and' the Kiwitahi Railway district. The building and contents were insured in the South British Office for £245 and £255 respectively.
