Buckley again took the lead at the 14th, but Loveridge equalled at the 76th, and by winning the next two won the match 2 up. G. Spence had no difficulty in beating B. Kingsford by the comfortable margin of 7 and 6, but will find his next match against A. Darragh a very different proposition. E. Wayte brought off a mild surprise by defeating W. L. Barkman and now meets M. Loveridge, who will have to show " improvement if he is to reach.,the final. L. H. Little proved too solid a proposition for C. G. Allan and won by a substantial margin. H. Keeley and H. Hemphill had a very even game, Keeley turning 1 up. Hemphill drew level at the 13th, but his opponent sunk a long putt at the 14th for a birdie 3 and regained the lead. The short 15th was halved in 3’s,.and Hemphill let Keeley in at the next where he played two poor mashie shots and lost the

hole 5 to 4. Keeley was now dormy two and the match finished at the i l7th after Hemphill had hooked his drive among the trees. By :i the aid of /a stroke he halved the first hole, won the next, but lost the lead at the third, and was two down at the 6th, only to win the 7th and Bth, and the match was again square. Corbett by careless putting lost the 9th and was 1 down at the turn, but won the 10th, lost the 11th, and won the 12th, with a birdie 2, making the game all square. Hemphill won the 13th and 14th in poor figures and was 2 up. He lost the 16th, but finished the match by winning the 17th. Corbett, who was a strong favourite for the cup, failed to produce the form he has shown over the past few weeks, while Hemphill has improved. H. Keeley, who was conceding A. Darragh 9 strokes, had a strenuous game in which first one and then the other would hold a 1-up lead. Darragh turned 1 up, but Keeley, with 4’s gained wins at the 10th and 11th and was 1 up. The next five holes were halved, but Keeley, by winning the 17th, finished the - match 2 and 1. * -aT Hemphill and Keeley will meet in y M > the final over 18 holes at an early date, and the latter will have to conff’-. cede three strokes.
