Fat Sheep and Cattle Firm.

Store Figs Sell Readily.

A good yarding of fat cattle at the Farmers’ Auctioneering Co.’s Morrinsville sale on Friday sold at prices well up to recent sales. Store cattle also remained firm. Yearling heifers were not of good quality and sold slowly. There was only a slight yarding of sheep, and prices remained firm on all classes.

A heavy yarding of dairy heifers came forward, and competition was good at the beginning, but eased off as requirements were filled. Competition was good for a small yarding of fat pigs, and values showed an improvement on last sale. Another large yarding of store pigs again sold readily, prices being firm at last sale’s rates. Beef Cattle. —

PUTARURU. <s Late Rates Maintained. At the Farmers’ Auctioneering Company’s Putaruru sale on Friday there was a full yarding of all classes of pigs, which realised late rates. There were only a few pens of sheep, these showing no altera-, tion in values. Fat and store cattle were penned in medium numbers, fat cattle values remaining firm at late rates. Values for stores were unchanged. There was an exceptionally heavy yarding of dairy cattle. Cows and heifers showing quality and close to profit- found a good sale, while later and inferior sorts were hard to dispose of. Dairy Cattle. — Jersey cows, early calvers, £5 10s to £6. August calvers, £4 10s to £5 ss.

CLEARING SALES.

Mr. J. G. Kenyon, Okoroire.

A clearing sale on account of Mr. J. G. Kenyon, at Okoroire, was held by the Farmers’ Auctioneering Co. on Thursday. There was a good attendance of buyers. The herd was a good lot, but did not sell as readily as at previous sales. Horses again commanded spirited competition. Pigs, of which there was a good number, .included many wellbred breeding sows, these being keenly competed for. Implements and sundries also sold well. Cattle. —

Choice Jersey cows, close to profit, £6 to £7. Later calvers, £5 to £5 15s. Jersey-cross, August calvers, £5 5s to £6 ss. Choice cows, in milk, £5 5s to £< ss. Other cows, in milk, £4 to £4 10s. Jersey yearling heifer calves, £3 5 S Aged cows and backward sorts, £2 5s to £3 10s.

Pigs.— Weaners, 6s 6d to 11s 6d. Stores, 18s 6d to 24s 6d. Good breeding sows, due to farrow early, £4 12s 6d to £5. Good breeding sows, due later, £3 to £3 ss. Good breeding sows, with litters, £5 to £5 ss. Tamworth boars, £3 17s 6d. Horses. — Medium farm horses, £25 10s to £27. Aged farm horses, £l6 10s. Two-year unbroken bay gelding, £24.

PRICES AT WESTFIELD. In the cow beef section at the Westfield stock sale this week a consignment of very nice heifers from Mr. W. McLean, Walton, realised up to £5 7s 6d, and a truck from Mr. Colin Cameron, Kiwitahi, averaged £5 3s 4d. Heifers and cows from Messrs. Thomson and Ernest, Whakatane, and Mr. G. L. Laird, ex Waihou, sold to £5 2s 6d. A line of 10 cows and heifers from a Walton vendor averaged £4 17s 6d. HEIFER SALE AT WAITOA. A special sale of heifers on account of W. S. Goosman and Company, Waitoa, was held by the Farmers’ Auctioneering Company on Wednesday. Competition was brisk for July and August calvers, and 139 of the most forward averaged £6 4s. Prices were:—

Calved heifers, £7 to £8 10s. Choice fawn Jersey heifers close to profit, £7 5s to £8 15s. Choice dark Jersey heifers close to profit, £7 to £B. Other good Jersey heifers close to profit, £6 2s 6d to £7. More-backward heifers, £5 7s 6d to £5 17s 6d.
