VALEDICTORY.
REV. AND MRS. BROWN. On Wednesday evening Rev. and Mrs. F. Gardner Brown were tendered a farewell social in the Matamata Methodist Church, , During the evening the following items were rendered : Community singing, led by Mr. Schofield; cornet solo, Mr. M. Bates ; vocal solo, Mr. A. J. Edmiston ; vocal solo, Mrs. Waite ; anthem, church choir ; duet, Mr. and Mrs. Brown. After the musical programme was finished various presentations were made. Mrs. P. Field, president of the Ladies’ Guild, presented Mrs. Brown with a hat box as a token ,of the esteem in which she was held by the ladies of the guild. Mr. J. F. Vosper, in a very witty speech, spoke of the sterling qualities of Mr. Brown and the high esteem in which he was held in the .circuit, and presented him with a travelling rug. Mr. Harry Vosper presented Mr. Brown with a book as a mark of appreciation of his work for the Young Men’s Bible Class. Mr. Brown, who is leaving to take charge of the Morrinsville circuit, suitably responded.
