FAREWELL KITCHEN TEA.

GUIDES’ CAPTAIN. Miss Bryant was the recipient of many useful articles at a kitchen tea given in her honour by the ladies of the committee of the Girl Guide and Brownie movement in Matamata on Monday afternoon in St. Andrew’s Hall. There was a large number of people present, among whom were Captain Pilkington (the former captain of the Matamata Girl Guides and Brownies) and Mrs. Bryant (mother of the present captain). The Girl Guides and Brownies were present in full force, each one bringing some serviceable article for use in the kitchen.

The committee, represented by Mrs. Barry, the president, presented the popular captain with a very handsome pyrex dish in a silver standi In addition she was given a very pretty bouquet, as were also Mrs. Bryant and Lieutenant Hawes. Mrs. Bryant suitably thanked the committee for their kindness, and Miss Bryant, in an appropriate manner, thanked them not only for their, excellent gift but also for their keen interest and help in the work of the companies. She expressed a wish that the next captain should get on as well with the girls and the committee as she had and that the girls would always be Gtiides, even when they were mo longer members of any particular company. She regretted greatly to have to leave them but she hoped she would come back to see them all again. At the close of the afternoon everyone joined in singing “ For She’s A Jolly Good Fellow.”
