GIL GUIDES’ CONCERT.

GOOD PERFORMANCE. Last Saturday the Matamata Girl Guides and Brownies, under the captaincy of Miss Bryant, gave a most successful and enjoyable concert in St. Andrew’s Hall. There was a good attendance and a fine programme as follows : “ We’re the Girl Guides,” sung by the whole company ; recitation by Patsy Halligan (encored); song, “ Brownies We,” by the Brownie troop ; country dance by members of the Girl Guides ; nautical song by Mr. E. Fielder ; recitation by Mr. J. F. Wells ; recitation by Ailsa Cfanswick; pianoforte solo by Una Mateer ; recitation by Joyce Barnes. Plays were given by the Brownie’s and Girl Guides.

The profits of the concert amounted to about £5 and are to be divided among a company and Brownie fund and also a fund to provide Christmas cheer for the poor and needy. Miss Bryant, the popular captain of the Guides and Brownies, made a suitable speech, thanking those present for the admirable way in which they had supported the Girl Guide and Brownie movement in the district.

On behalf of the parents Mr. W. R. Steveps thanked Miss Bryant and the companies for their very commendable entertainment and wished them all the success which was their due.
