PUKETURUA
At the meeting of the Puketurua branch of the Putaruru Development Board, it was decided to make inquiries with a view of getting supplies of manure ’at a cheaper rate than at present. A suggestion that the Puketurua settlers should combine to buy their seeds and manure in bulk, through the local dairy company or othenvise, thus getting the discount for bulk buying, was referred to Mr. Barnett to bring before the directorate of the dairy company. A deputation, comprising the chairman, the secretary (Mr. Law), Mr. Peters, sen., and Mr. Washer, Avas appointed to wait on the ncAV engineer in charge at Arapuni (Mr. Lush) as an evidence to him of the interest of the people of the district in the Arapuni scheme. The shed at Puketurua used by Mr. F. Daniell, Pukcatua, as a half-Avay house between Putaruru and his farm for the storage of goods, etc., avhs destroyed by fire on Thursday evening last. The building Avas situated at the corner of the Waikato River road and the Cambridge road, being opposite the cheese factory, and Avas a fairly large shed. It is not knoAvn lioav the fire originated. ‘ Play on the Puketurua tennis courts, it is now anticipated, Avill be commenced in about a fortnight’s time.
